Ralph is President of McKellar Structured Settlements.

Since joining McKellar in 1986, Ralph’s thoughtful and precise approach has assisted countless clients in the legal and insurance industry in achieving successful settlements, and has helped bring financial security to thousands of injured people.

Before joining McKellar, Ralph was the National Casualty Manager for a major national casualty insurer in claim adjusting and management for another major insurer.

Ralph has lectured at seminars sponsored by the Insurance Institute of Canada, the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association, The Advocates' Society, and conducted numerous seminars for individual insurers and law firms.

He has written and contributed to numerous articles for such publications as Canadian Underwriter, Canadian Insurance Magazine, Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, Law Times, The Lawyers Weekly, and Canadian Lawyer.

When he is not busy steering the McKellar “ship”, you can find Ralph up to his elbows in dirt, gardening.

Jim is one of the earliest partners of McKellar Structured Settlements Inc.

Since beginning his structured settlement career in 1982, Jim has been instrumental in implementing thousands of structured settlements, yet he still brings an inventive and creative approach to every file.

Before joining McKellar, Jim spent 17 years with Co‑operators General Insurance Company, specializing in claims examining, training, and major loss negotiation. He assisted in developing the first Automobile No‑Fault and Under‑Insured Motorist coverage with that organization.

Jim has given evidence at trial and regularly provides training and lectures not only to the legal and casualty industry, but also to the judiciary. He is the author of a number of articles for various legal and insurance periodicals.

When he is not attending settlement meetings, mediations, and one-on-one client meetings, you may find Jim at the cottage, testing out a new recipe on the grill with his wife Joanne, their children, and their nine young grandchildren.

Cathleen’s experience and dedication to her work is an asset to McKellar, but it is her outgoing nature that our clients most appreciate.

Before joining McKellar in 1997, Cathleen was a law clerk for 11 years.  She was promoted to the position of Principal in 2014, and is part of McKellar’s Accident Benefits team. In addition to overseeing multiple files, Cathleen assists in mentoring new staff, and relies on her "eagle eyes" to perform a final audit on many of our structured settlement files.

Brittany is the newest member of McKellar’s Legal Department. She drafts and reviews structure documents to meet the requirements of Canada Revenue Agency and (where necessary) the Court. Brittany also serves as our Privacy Officer, is our in-house intellectual property advisor, and assists with issues related to cross-border structures.

Before joining McKellar, Brittany practised law both in firm and in-house settings in Utah and Ontario.  She focused primarily on the areas of litigation and corporate/commercial law, representing clients in obtaining resolutions both in court and at the negotiation table.  Brittany brings top-notch legal skills and a client-centered, solution-focused approach to her work at McKellar.

A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Brittany is a huge sports fan - especially of the Michigan Wolverines.  She enjoys baking, entertaining, and staying active.  She loves spending her free time with her husband, James, and their two children.

Gord is McKellar’s Controller, and head of the Accounting Department.

With his extensive background in taxation and accounting, Gord manages the day-to-day business affairs of McKellar Structured Settlements Inc. with ease. In addition, he provides income tax and financial advice on structured settlements and other aspects of clients' needs.

Before joining McKellar in 1996, Gord spent fourteen years with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Hamilton, Ontario.  In fact, Gord’s association with McKellar began at Coopers, as he was responsible for the company’s year end financial statements and tax returns.

When not working with fiscal projections, balance sheets and financial statements, Gord can often be found hiking the Niagara Escarpment (or elsewhere around the world) with his wife, Glenda, and any number of their six adult children, three sons-in-law and three grandchildren.

Rita is a true McKellar multi-tasker, spending time out of the office at mediations and client meetings, and inside, as a member of both the Legal Department, and the Human Resources team.

Rita brings a caring yet practical approach to her role at McKellar, and since joining the company in 2000, she has attended hundreds of mediations and plaintiff meetings, to implement structured settlements that are specific to each person’s unique needs.

Before joining McKellar in 2000, Rita practised as a partner in the law firm of Villemaire, Levato for 12 years. She focused primarily on the areas of litigation, corporate/commercial law, and estate law. This broad-based legal experience has made her a key part of the McKellar team.

When not on the go at McKellar, Rita can be found staying true to her Italian roots, canning tomatoes in her garage, with the help of her husband John and their two children.

Jim is head of McKellar’s Legal Department, and is responsible for ensuring that each structured settlement satisfies the requirements of Canada Revenue Agency.

Before joining McKellar in 2000, Jim practised law first in Canada, from 1989 through 1992, as an associate with the Kitchener, Ontario firm of Giffen Lee, LLP.  Then, from 1993 through 2000, Jim practised law in upstate New York, first, as an associate in the Syracuse and Buffalo offices of Hiscock & Barclay LLP and, subsequently, as head of his own Buffalo-based firm.

Jim brings his trademark detailed and methodical approach to each and every file under his review, so that claimants, insurers, and their lawyers, can be sure that the structured settlement has been properly implemented, and is guaranteed to be tax-free.

In his spare time, Jim is an avid tennis player and hiker.

Laura’s many roles at McKellar include structured settlement consultation, industry seminars, marketing and human resources.

Laura joined McKellar Structured Settlements Inc. in 1992, after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Degree in Sociology.  She has been a Principal in the firm since 2003.

Laura helped create the valuation protocol for McKellar’s Statutory Accident Benefits, beginning in 1994 with Ontario’s Bill 164 legislation. She has been key in the continued development of our SABS valuation protocols, with the changing legislation over the years.

In addition to attending mediations and settlement meetings, Laura is part of McKellar’s Marketing and Human Resource Committees. 

She lectures extensively on structured settlements within the insurance industry and legal fraternity, and is a guest lecturer at Queen’s University Law School.  Laura helped to create McKellar’s current programme of seminars for insurance company and law firm training in structured settlements.

In her rare opportunities for “down time”, Laura enjoys tormenting her husband Michael, and her two children with her bagpipe playing.

Mary Anne manages the McKellar Brokerage/Quality Assurance and Client Services Departments.

When Mary Anne joined McKellar in 1998, her background in accounting and her great work ethic made her an immediate asset.

She very quickly became one of our Accident Benefits Specialists, and is now a Principal in the firm.  Mary Anne’s eye for detail and strong math skills help ensure that our Brokerage Department is second to none.  In addition, as HR administrator, she is very involved in the training and development of our in-house team of specialists.

Mary Anne is an avid movie buff and terrific baker of decadent treats.

John was instrumental in the early development of McKellar’s Legal Department, and his technical expertise in the field of structured settlements is second to none.

Prior to joining McKellar in 1994, and between trips back to school, John practised personal injury law at Lerners LLP in London, Ontario.

His background in personal injury law, combined with a natural affinity for numbers, has benefitted countless clients at settlement meetings, mediations and meetings with injured plaintiffs.  John’s key strength is his ability to simplify difficult concepts, and to speak comfortably with anyone, about anything.

John’s love of learning is surpassed only by his love of travel. When not attending client meetings across the country, John is often flying across the globe with his family, in search of his next travel adventure.

Phil is Managing Partner of McKellar Structured Settlements.

Phil has a high level of technical expertise in the area of Accident Benefits and has been involved with structured settlements since 1994.

Before joining McKellar in 2006, Phil spent 19 years with Co-operators General Insurance Company.

Phil’s casualty background and expertise in structured settlements makes him well suited for attendance at mediations and settlement meetings. His forthright manner and ease with figures has been of benefit in helping injured plaintiffs understand the value of structured settlements.

In addition, Phil has conducted many training sessions dealing with Accident Benefits and regularly conducts structured settlement training seminars.   He is also a member of McKellar’s Marketing and Human Resource Committees.

When he’s not working, Phil looks forward to his family vacations around the globe with his two children, and lovely wife, Suzanne.

As one of the firm's structured settlement consultants, Colleen brings a thoughtful approach - and her great numbers sense -  to numerous mediations, settlement meetings and plaintiff meetings.

When she is not on the road meeting with clients, Colleen enjoys playing piano, and spending time out of doors with her husband Tony and their two daughters, at the family cottage.

Bradley began work at McKellar in 2009, joining the Brokerage & Quality Assurance Team. He is currently an Associate with the firm, and a senior member and lead trainer of the department.

In addition, Bradley provides assistance to McKellar’s Principals at settlement meetings, mediations, and client meetings. Bradley also plays a key role in the production of McKellar’s Future Care Report Valuations.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two boys. When not with his family, he can be found in the blue ice at the local rink, pulling pucks out of his net after missing the poke check.

Nathan’s big picture thinking and mathematical proficiency play an important role in his daily tasks that ultimately help to further McKellar’s reputation for being the best in the business.

Nathan began work at McKellar in 2010, joining the Brokerage & Quality Assurance Team. He is currently an Associate with the firm, a designated Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and a senior member of the department with outstanding willingness and ability to tackle any task that is thrown his way.

In addition, Nathan provides assistance to McKellar’s Principals at settlement meetings, mediations, and client meetings. Nathan is also a specialist on the key role that structures play in preserving clients’ entitlements to government benefits.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two girls. When not hard at work at McKellar, he can be found hard at work lending a hand on his family’s free-run chicken farm.

Nadine joined McKellar in 2004, as a Brokerage Specialist.  She is currently an Associate with the firm, and an Accident Benefits Specialist. 

In addition to arranging structures for Accident Benefit and tort claims, Nadine prepares numerous future care valuations, assists in assessing and maintaining our internal procedures, and is a valuable mentoring resource to all staff.

Cecil has a long and valued association with McKellar, having been an Associate in our Edmonton office for over 20 years.

Cecil was born, raised and educated in Edmonton. He has been an integral and successful member of the Edmonton business community for over 50 years, and has been part of McKellar since the late 1980s.

Cecil specializes in structured settlements for the personally injured and estate planning for business owners. He has a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience about all aspects of financial planning which we tap in order to provide the best possible advice to our Alberta clients.

Cecil has spoken at more conferences and seminars than can be listed here. He has obtained the "5 Star Master Builder", the highest achievement available to any Manulife agent.

She very quickly became one of our Accident Benefits Specialists, and is now a Principal in the firm.  Mary Anne’s eye for detail and strong math skills help ensure that our Brokerage Department is second to none.  In addition, as HR administrator, she is very involved in the training and development of our in-house team of specialists.

Mary Anne is an avid movie buff and terrific baker of decadent treats.

Bradley began work at McKellar in 2009, joining the Brokerage & Quality Assurance Team. He is currently an Associate with the firm, and a senior member and lead trainer of the department.

In addition, Bradley provides assistance to McKellar’s Principals at settlement meetings, mediations, and client meetings. Bradley also plays a key role in the production of McKellar’s Future Care Report Valuations.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two boys. When not with his family, he can be found in the blue ice at the local rink, pulling pucks out of his net after missing the poke check.

Nathan began work at McKellar in 2010, joining the Brokerage & Quality Assurance Team. He is currently an Associate with the firm, a designated Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and a senior member of the department with outstanding willingness and ability to tackle any task that is thrown his way.

In addition, Nathan provides assistance to McKellar’s Principals at settlement meetings, mediations, and client meetings. Nathan is also a specialist on the key role that structures play in preserving clients’ entitlements to government benefits.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two girls. When not hard at work at McKellar, he can be found hard at work lending a hand on his family’s free-run chicken farm.

Jim is head of McKellar’s Legal Department, and is responsible for ensuring that each structured settlement satisfies the requirements of Canada Revenue Agency.

Before joining McKellar in 2000, Jim practised law first in Canada, from 1989 through 1992, as an associate with the Kitchener, Ontario firm of Giffen Lee, LLP.  Then, from 1993 through 2000, Jim practised law in upstate New York, first, as an associate in the Syracuse and Buffalo offices of Hiscock & Barclay LLP and, subsequently, as head of his own Buffalo-based firm.

Jim brings his trademark detailed and methodical approach to each and every file under his review, so that claimants, insurers, and their lawyers, can be sure that the structured settlement has been properly implemented, and is guaranteed to be tax-free.

In his spare time, Jim is an avid tennis player and hiker.

Brittany is the newest member of McKellar’s Legal Department. She drafts and reviews structure documents to meet the requirements of Canada Revenue Agency and (where necessary) the Court. Brittany also serves as our Privacy Officer, is our in-house intellectual property advisor, and assists with issues related to cross-border structures.

Before joining McKellar, Brittany practised law both in firm and in-house settings in Utah and Ontario.  She focused primarily on the areas of litigation and corporate/commercial law, representing clients in obtaining resolutions both in court and at the negotiation table.  Brittany brings top-notch legal skills and a client-centered, solution-focused approach to her work at McKellar.

A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Brittany is a huge sports fan - especially of the Michigan Wolverines.  She enjoys baking, entertaining, and staying active.  She loves spending her free time with her husband, James, and their two children.

Rita is a true McKellar multi-tasker, spending time out of the office at mediations and client meetings, and inside, as a member of both the Legal Department, and the Human Resources team.

Rita brings a caring yet practical approach to her role at McKellar, and since joining the company in 2000, she has attended hundreds of mediations and plaintiff meetings, to implement structured settlements that are specific to each person’s unique needs.

Before joining McKellar in 2000, Rita practised as a partner in the law firm of Villemaire, Levato for 12 years. She focused primarily on the areas of litigation, corporate/commercial law, and estate law. This broad-based legal experience has made her a key part of the McKellar team.

When not on the go at McKellar, Rita can be found staying true to her Italian roots, canning tomatoes in her garage, with the help of her husband John and their two children.

John was instrumental in the early development of McKellar’s Legal Department, and his technical expertise in the field of structured settlements is second to none.

Prior to joining McKellar in 1994, and between trips back to school, John practised personal injury law at Lerners LLP in London, Ontario.

His background in personal injury law, combined with a natural affinity for numbers, has benefitted countless clients at settlement meetings, mediations and meetings with injured plaintiffs.  John’s key strength is his ability to simplify difficult concepts, and to speak comfortably with anyone, about anything.

John’s love of learning is surpassed only by his love of travel. When not attending client meetings across the country, John is often flying across the globe with his family, in search of his next travel adventure.

Laura’s many roles at McKellar include structured settlement consultation, industry seminars, marketing and human resources.

Laura joined McKellar Structured Settlements Inc. in 1992, after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Degree in Sociology.  She has been a Principal in the firm since 2003.

Laura helped create the valuation protocol for McKellar’s Statutory Accident Benefits, beginning in 1994 with Ontario’s Bill 164 legislation. She has been key in the continued development of our SABS valuation protocols, with the changing legislation over the years.

In addition to attending mediations and settlement meetings, Laura is part of McKellar’s Marketing and Human Resource Committees. 

She lectures extensively on structured settlements within the insurance industry and legal fraternity, and is a guest lecturer at Queen’s University Law School.  Laura helped to create McKellar’s current programme of seminars for insurance company and law firm training in structured settlements.

In her rare opportunities for “down time”, Laura enjoys tormenting her husband Michael, and her two children with her bagpipe playing.

Joanne brings with her 20 years of Project Management and IT experience, having worked at the City of Guelph as a Manager of Business Systems. This broad-based experience has made her a key part of the McKellar team.

Gord is McKellar’s Controller, and head of the Accounting Department.

With his extensive background in taxation and accounting, Gord manages the day-to-day business affairs of McKellar Structured Settlements Inc. with ease. In addition, he provides income tax and financial advice on structured settlements and other aspects of clients' needs.

Before joining McKellar in 1996, Gord spent fourteen years with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Hamilton, Ontario.  In fact, Gord’s association with McKellar began at Coopers, as he was responsible for the company’s year end financial statements and tax returns.

When not working with fiscal projections, balance sheets and financial statements, Gord can often be found hiking the Niagara Escarpment (or elsewhere around the world) with his wife, Glenda, and any number of their six adult children, three sons-in-law and three grandchildren.
